Ivory ribbon knit 2 piece 40s dress with self belt and European flag motif. Top has fold over collar that hooks in back with hooks and eyes. Several European cities flags represented on the bodice, including a bull with a red ring in its nose from Uri Canton in Switzerland. Silk velvet leopard and golden silk chiffon 40s hostess gown by "Dorian". Matching golden silk scarf at neckline. Silk velvet bodice has leopard print,  V neckline and buttons to waist (one button missing). Self belt in leopard, Scarf is secured with machine stitch to back of neckline. Sweeping sheer silk chiffon skirt over coordinating acetate, slit below waist to mid-thigh with snaps to secure. One tiny spot on skirt that falls into folds, pencil eraser size. Flowers are painted on, some painted and appliqued.....adorned with gelatin based sequins. Peplum is lined and edged with same sheer nylon as sleeves. Rare and unusual 40s beaded gown by CEIL CHAPMAN. Black crepe rayon sets off a fantastic beaded bird on a branch toward left shoulder on bodice. Glass beads create a fantastically plumed exotic bird in silvers, golds and red. Skirt falls into 2 sculpted peaks at calf level. Side metal zipper.  Black label at waist seam. Dress appears to have been hand repaired within the peaks of skirt design....I believe the design to be original but with the hand stitching I cannot guarantee it. I don't think an alteration would have allowed enough fabric to create the sculpted detail. A few missing beads at tip of branch at shoulder, no other issues....no holes, no stains.
