I have recently started a new venture in hat design, something I've long wanted to do! I work with vintage hats daily and have accumulated lots of millinery supplies over the years, as well as bits and pieces like broken jewelry, buttons, lace bits and textiles. All hats are made of nearly ALL vintage materials (never taken from vintage in viable condition, I promise!) though occassionally modern bases or ribbon may be used. LAYAWAY POLICY
Happy to work with you on terms, but the basics go like this.....20% down, $2000 maximum, 90 days to pay and we're set. If 90 days passes and my attempts to collect the balance are not responded to & or met, the items become available again for other shoppers and the deposit is kept as a fee for having the pieces unavailable for customers for the duration of the 90 days. Layaway items are not eligible for return due to the extended perioid that they are unavailable to the public.
I'm pretty easy going as long as you stay in touch!
RETURNS
Returns are possible and are approved on a case by case basis. Contact must be made within 3 days of receipt. If there is no error or misrepresentation on my part, I require a 20% restock fee with the exception of bridal gowns which, due to their one-wear/event nature, require a 40% restock fee. If the error is mine a refund will be issued in full. Layaway items are not eligible for return due to the extended period they are unavailable to the public.
Contact must be made prior to shipping ANY returned item, no matter the reason. Dorothea's Closet Vintage reserves the right to select shipping method in all cases. Failure to ship with method required will null any shipping reimbursement in cases of return cause by an error on this end.

Dorothea's Closet was born of a love for pretty things, inspired by days of dressing up in Grandma's closet. That grandma was Dorothea, and I am proud to say she had a large influence in who I am today....and in what I do as well. Because she was the inspiration for this passion of mine, it is her artwork & a snapshot of her from a photo booth that are recurring imagery on my site. Its my way of thanking her for showing me a strong woman could love & wear pretty things and still be a Mom, a Grandma, an artist, a gardener, a fabulous cook & an inspiration to those around her.
At Dorothea's Closet, you will find vintage clothing.....the best I can find. From as far back as I can get it to the early 80's. I focus mainly on dresses but offer separates, accessories, lingerie & men's things whenever possible. From the highly collectible to every day wear & everything in between....I love the things I sell & hope you will too!
I am a single Mom working from a small shop front or from home, not an impersonal large company....email me any time to ask for more pictures, details I have missed, even to look for things you are hunting for (I may even have it not yet posted!). I appreciate my customer's love of vintage & want nothing more than a happy experience all around!
