The first and perhaps the most stunning of several bags Dorothea's will be offering from one woman's collection over the next few weeks. Watch here for more, a few may be listed in our eBay store as well, we will link to those from here when available (we will not be auctioning these bags at all).

Dating to the early part of the century, this is an elaborate and large reticule style bag with elegant vividly colored glass beads in an Eastern European style. Made in Belgium, the bag is of golden silk twill and has beaded loops at top that a set of drawstrings run through, each detailed with their own beaded pulls. The bag has an attached diamond shaped mirror with silk backing and dramatic looped beaded fringe along the bottom of its uniquely scalloped shape. Bold red, orange, pink, royal blue, aqua  and yellow are set off by black & white.....breathtaking hues, intricately beaded and beautifully designed. Some wear to silk on back of mirror, a few loops of fringe on bottom have lost their beads. Bag itself is solid, no shattering....absolutely a gem for a collector to display or carry!

Bag measures 9" top of pouch to bottom with 2" of fringe. 8" across widest point.

Fringe, Beaded Detail on Pull
Brightly colored Victorian reticule drawstring pouch with delightful image of a flower filled cornucopia on either side. Pink and red roses and rose buds spill from an ornate yellow & black cornucopia, surrounded by more delicate rosebuds and intricate details in black, bold robin's egge blue and white. Bag cinches shut at top with a black silk cord running through latticework weave....some of which has worn through and needs a little mending. The bag itself is in stellar condition,  beads bright and all intact, no holes or tears. Small in size, bag measures 8" long and 4 1/2" wide at widest point. No label, no mirror. A great addition to a collection, with a few minor repairs it will be possible to carry as well.

Miniature beaded bag in soft shell pink & white beads. Oval shaped with loop fringe at sides and bottom, silvertone etched metal curves across top to create frame and clasp. No markings visible on metal, no label inside. Chain strap attached to one side, needs large ring to reattach to other but will repair easily with the one larger ring link in place. Inside is silk in an apricot-pink, very good sturdy condition. Frame is sturdy, clasp works, beads intact....only flaw is the one missing link to make this beauty perfect!

Divine 20's deco beaded handbag with crochet base and iridescent shimmering violet glass beading. Beads are done in thick  horizontal bands, leaving space between where bag shows and a more delicate design is applied.....toward top, skinny strands like glistening icicles....toward bottom, peaked columns rise from fringed edge. Loop fringe at bottom as well as middle of bag. Silvertone metal frame is etched with a nouveau motif, no markings on metal that I can see. Chain strap. Some fringe missing from bottom, rest of bag itself is sturdy & beads all secure & present. No lining at all. Frame hinge on one side needs soldered, otherwise bag is in fine shape! A stunner in a beautiful colorway.
Bag is 12" tall, 17" with chain and 6" wide.

Elegant Victorian cut steel bag on goldtone metal frame. Frame is stamped "MADE IN FRANCE" and has 3 letters carved in below....J B S. Goldtone and bronze cut steel beads set off a pale gold and black floral motif on either side, scalloped along bottom with fringed detail. Chain strap. Frame and chain are in perfect condition, however, the bag has split where the weight of the beads pulled it away from the frame at corners....much of the fringe is missing as well. No lining. A great bag for restoration, or to use to restore another. Asking price reflects flaws. Measures 8 1/2 " high bag only, 21" high to top of chain, 6 1/4" wide. Small cut steel  beaded bag from same collection as those above. Diminuitive in size, bag is set on goldtone metal Art Nouveau filage motif carved frame with long chain handle. Pouch shaped bag done in brilliant golds & bronze beads setting off vivid orange autumn leaves. Fringed along bottom. Push button clasp at top, frame is marked MADE IN FRANCE. Frame & chain are in perfect shape, bag is lined in muslin....sides of bag below hinges is open but that may be intentional. no fraying and it appears the same on either side. Fringe, beads and beaded detail along frame intact as well. Wonderful condition! Measures 5" high bag alone, 15" high to top of chain, 3" wide.
