Early 1950s couture silk drawstring pouch style bag from the house of JEANNE PAQUIN. Soft white silk is touched with peacock blue dye, then tufted with gradient lengths of blue silk to create the illusion of feathers. Silk embroidered ball fringe around bound edges, silk rope drawstrings. Two small pockets inside. A bag designed with a nod toward the "directoire" period with all the hallmarks of Jeanne's orginal styling....attention to textures, exotic detailing. Jeanne was one of the first women to gain celebrity as a designer, and the first to open her own house. Read more about Jeanne here. Attributed to being created for gowns to attend the 1953 Coronation for Queen Elizabeth (family word, no provenance). Made around the same time that Paquin merged with the House of Worth. Bold royal purple silk dupioni JEANNE PAQUIN drawstring pouch evening bag from the early 1950s. Silk embroidered ball fringe, bound edges and braided drawstring. Lined in silk with 2 pockets. A couture piece from a house that rarely did accessories....certainly few examples are seen or surviving. Believed to be created to coordinate with a gown for the 1953 Queen of England's Coronation (family information, no provenance). Deep cognac brown alligator handbag by LUCILLE DE PARIS. Kelly style with single strap, goldtone metal accents. Leather interior. Some pen marks on interior, a little wear to one corner...no cracking or flaking, superb condition. Measures 11" wide by 7" tall (excluding handle). $365

Logo-tastic 60s GIVENCHY pocketbook in soft grey and navy blue with Spanish leather edging and interior. Gold stamped inside "Givenchy" and "Made in Spain". Measures  5" wide by 4" high, 9" wide to fold when unhooked. Very faint surface dirt on squared part of envelope flap, no other flaws...leather in superb shape, a gorgeous designer piece! $145

Springy, leaf green 40s rayon bag on metal frame by GARAY. Deco inspired metal clasp. Original mirror inside still in paper wrap, appears never carried. Some suface dirt toward top from storage, one knick in fabric on front. 8" wide by 6" tall. $40

Fantastic mod leather handbag in summery tangerine hue. O ring closure slips through leather straps, envelope flap snaps shut beneath, top opening has large metal zipper. Metal feet on bottom. Luxe leather in the style of vintage Coach, and color very like the trademark orange of Bonnie Cashin....however, no markings. No flaws. 12" high by 12" wide excluding strap. $165

Cocoa brown lizard handbag from the 60s by BELLESTONE. Lizard covered frame across top, kelly style design. Slightly misshapen from storage, clean with no cracks or stains to lizard. A superb bag. 9 1/2" wide by 6" high. $135

Unusual and dramatic 60s handbag by DELILL. Long bag is done in jewel tone silk with a Persian print of a castle, royalty, military and animals. Quilted over is a clear plastic casing. Very hard to get good pictures through the plastic! The print is marvelous...bright and lush, dramatic and colorful. Gold metal fram and long chain strap. Bag itself measures 11" long frame to bottom, 25" long with strap, 12" wide. No flaws, appears never used. $125

Rare large box shaped 60's genuine alligator 60's handbag. Fantastic asymetrical flap closes with a double turn lock at corner, locks self-straighten when opening is replaced over base. Edges whip stitched, handle has snaps to adjust length. Bottom has 4 brass feet to protect from scuffing. 11" wide, 8 1/2" high, 3 1/2" deep. Labeled "Genuine Alligator Made in Florida USA". Exquisite little silvertone metal 20s handbag with drawstring closure, deco chain and finger rings. Referred to as a finger or tango bag.  Looks very Whiting & Davis, no label. Mesh over fabric lining, O rings attach drawstring chain to mesh (one has come apart, not noticeable unless all the way open and looking for it). No flaws to lining or metal, original finger rings intact! Bag measures 4" wide by 5" long. $225
