Fascinating, one of a kind and very rare 50s cashmere sweater by HELEN BOND CARRUTHERS (click to read more at the Vintage Fashion Guild). Soft ivory cashmere sweater lined in white silk with Helen's embroidered label at back of waist. Front is appliqued with silk embroidered pieces cut from antique Asian textiles, as Helen was known for. This motif is of Asian flora and fauna in soft pastels and bronzes with a unique twist....a stylized butterfly (or hornet?) hovers nearly upside down toward collar at shoulders. 50s jacket of a wool/mohair blend in charcoal grey with stylish polka dot print, lined with a faux "blouse" in red gabardine. Ooooh-la-la!!!! The real deal! An early 50's bikini straight from the island of Port-Cros and made in Paris. All cotton in bright royal blue, no lining. Bandeau top is boned up front with peaks top and bottom at bust, metal slide ring shuts in back. Bottoms have wide double heavy elastic strap detail at hips. Marked size 38, comes with all orginal tags and plastic bag from the shoppe in France! This style of suit was made popular by Brigitte Bardot. Utterly flawless and rare!
