Amazing novelty print late 30s dress inspired by the Katherine Hepburn film, "Bringing Up Baby". Little spotted leopards frolic with circus balls of soft teal, blue and rosy pink painted on a soft ivory crepe rayon background. Ruched at shoulders, petal style cap sleeves, bows at side of neckline. Shirred across waist with peaked pleated hip pockets. Side metal zipper, by Alice Kaye Jrs. Luxury and glamour defined! 30s black silk velvet opera coat with dramatic ermine fur jabot and circular pieced  ermine fur sleeves. From CAS A STEVENS & CO. of Chicago. Closes with snap at right side of neckline and velvet button & loop under ermine jabot on left side, open to ankle length hem. This has been fully restored with brand new black actetate lining as the silk lining had shattered, and the fur pieces cleaned by a furrier. Original label retained. Dress has open placket to waist with hook & eye closure, no side opening. Jacket has top stiched wide lapel and puff sleeves, self belt with metal slide (was perhaps once covered in same fabric). Jacket has several holes along back of shoulders, has been lined in black silk to blend with the busy print. Some repairs to dress at seams and a few tiny holes. Priced accordingly. Exquisite deep plum silk velvet bias cut vintage 30's dress with sculpted, fantastical peaked sleeves and attached heavy bronzed metal chain with dramatic grape cluster pendant. Matching belt cinches waist, wonderful trapunto tiered stitching adds drama at the hemline. Hooks up back with metal snaps and hooks/eyes. Some repairs made, one at right shoulder, one below waist seam in back center and one seam on shoulder....all repairs expertly done and fall into folds of velvet nicely, but of note.
